One of the best things we can do for ourselves and for our business is to have some daily quiet time – some reflection and planning time. What, you say, I don’t have time for that? Sure you do. You may just not realize that you do. We’re so used to SPENDING time that we forget that we need to INVEST some time in our lives – some time to reflect on what’s working for us and what isn’t working so well and to plan some different action steps on what needs to change. Start out by taking baby steps and block out just 10 minutes a day to completely stop, relax and think. If it’s first thing in the morning, (like me) think about what it is that you want to accomplish that day. Look over your list and see how it’s contributing to your weekly and monthly goals. (You have made those goals, haven’t you? Well, that’s another topic.) Then advance to 15 minutes. See if you can build up to 30. If early morning doesn’t work for you, try closing your door at mid-day, or before you leave your office in the afternoon, or before bed. It doesn’t matter when it is, just that you invest some time that’s quiet.
